I started making felt stuff for storytimes at my library and got hooked. My felt creations are done Kawaii style. I've been a Hello Kitty/Sanrio fan since I was a child. My interest was rekindled while working in San Francisco's Chinatown.

Jelly (NOT Jell-O) in the Bowl!
Another baby rhyme this week. I'm confounded by all the rhymes that have to do with shaking babies. The only major piece of parenting advice I gleaned from pop culture in my twenties was "Don't Shake Your Baby!" Every time I tell caregivers at babytime to shake their babies, I feel a little guilty. Adding the caveat "but not too hard" helps assuage my anxiety a tiny bit.

You be the Ice Cream
This is a traditional baby-hugging rhyme. Babies need lots of hugs, I hear. Some don't get enough. That is just wrong! Please rectify, immediately.
Bounce baby on lap and give a different kind of hug at the end of each line.
You be the ice cream and I’ll be the freezer.
Give baby a shivery hug
You be the lemon and I’ll be the squeezer.
Give baby a squeezy hug
You be the hot dog and I’ll be the bun.
Hug baby lengthwise with arms like hot dog buns.
You be the baby and we’ll have some fun!
Finish with a hug and a kiss on baby's head
Repeat until baby is properly hugged up!

Five Enormous Kawaii Dinosaurs
You can't go wrong with a storytime about dinosaurs! (Well, I guess it would be bad if you did a faithful Jurassic Park puppet show with scary raptors. Not to mention using books featuring cavemen alive at the same time as dinosaurs. OK, maybe it could go wrong. Stick with this rhyme.)

Five Baby Kawaii Bunnies!
Keeping track of baby bunnies is hard. Sometimes it is nice for a mama bunny to have a bit of a break from parenting...
