Please ponder the peril of plummeting pachyderms. Although a
web is a peculiar place for prancing, the improbable physics of this rhyme fails
to perplex most young children…
One elephant went out to play,
On a spider's web one day,
She had such enormous fun,
That she called for another elephant to come…
Two elephants…
Three elephants…
Four elephants…
Five elephants went out to play,
On a spider’s web one day,
The web went creeeeak….the web went crack….
And the elephants all fell on their backs.
This version is similar to a variation on KCLS’s site.
I love their recommendation of doing this as a circle song with a small group
of children.
The kids would pretend to be elephants and bring each other into
the center of the circle,
until they all fell down.
And....Gudetama!

ReplyDeleteSo much fun and so cute, I just love all your sets Keith! I have never been able to figure out that nifty felt technique.
ReplyDeleteOne question- how on EARTH did you make that web?!

Thanks for the praise! The web is based on one a friend made me forever ago. She did it freehand(!), but I used a photocopy taped on my felt and cut out the negative space. Very carefully.
DeleteI'm working on a tutorial for making felt in this style. I'll have it up in the next couple weeks. :)
