This song, "If You're Going to the Moon, Wear Your Boots" is pretty great to use before singing Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
or Laurie Berkner's Rocketship Run.
First, put the stars and planets up.
Then the astronaut goes up, sans spacesuit, floating in space.
I cover his tummy and ask the kids which other body parts need to be covered.
We start singing...
(To the tune of Happy and You Know It, rhyme adapted from OG storytime resource, Mel's desk)
If you’re going to the moon, wear your boots
If you’re going to the moon, and you're gonna leave real soon,
If you’re going to the moon, wear your boots.
My former coworker Amanda came up with the pattern for the astronaut. She is smart!
