My Heart is Like a Zoo

Valentine's Day is coming. I adapted some images from Michael Hall's "My Heart is Like a Zoo" and added actions for use at my toddler storytime.

 

Sometimes my heart wants to clap like a seal.

Sometimes my heart wants to hop like a bunny.

Sometimes my heart wants to jump like a frog.

Sometimes my heart wants to roar like a lion.

Sometimes my heart wants to ask "Whoo?" like an owl.

 Sometimes my heart wants to fly like a bluejay.

What does your heart want to do?

Some people get super-stressed about Valentine's day and the societal pressure to be in a happy heteronormative relationship, showered with candy and fancy things.

Not me!

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadow. If I fail, if I succeed, at least I'll live as I believe. No matter what they take from me, they can't take away my dignity. Because the greatest love of all is happening to me. I found the greatest love of all, inside of me. The greatest love of all is easy to achieve...Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.
