Back a million years ago when I had a weekly "Bedtime" themed pajama storytime, I used "Ten in the Bed" all the time. It features counting down, rolling hands and the perennial kids favorite, things falling out of a bed. I remembered it recently and thought it would be fun to make a flannelboard set. I tried to think of something cute, round and stackable which could fit on a bed....Tsum Tsum!
Unfortunately, while making these I kept singing the song. Again. And again. Over and over. I have had this stuck in my head the past few days and hopefully this post with exorcise the earworm so I can regain my tenuous grasp on sanity. Here goes!
Start by counting the characters and then the fingers on both hands.
Hold up all ten fingers and sing.
Hold up just the pinky at "the little one said."
Roll hands while saying "roll over."
Pretend a finger falls out of bed...
Repeat.
There were ten in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were nine in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were eight in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were seven in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were six in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were five in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were four in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were three in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were two in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There was one in the bed and the little one said,
"I'm lonely, I'm lonely..."
So they all jumped back in!
Hold up all ten fingers again.
