Letter A Storytime

A is for Astronaut!

A is for Airplane!
We put our arms out like wings and start down low. We make airplane engine noises and take off. We fly left and right and through some bumpy storm clouds. We wave at our house and the library down below. We fly lower and lower and all land at the airport.

A is for Apple!

A is for Acorn!
Acorns are baby tree seeds that fall from trees. We pretend our finger is an acorn falling from a tree. We make the rain fal and the sun shine. We squat down to sprout up and become trees.

A is for Axylotl
Axylotls love to swim! We pretend to swim like salamanders.

A is for Armadillo
Armadillos have a hard shell and curl up into a ball when they are scared.

A is for Alligator
We pretend our fingers on one hand are monkeys and our other hand is an alligator.

We sing:
Five little monkeys sitting in a tree,
(monkeys swing back and forth)
Teasing Mr. Alligator: “You can’t catch me!”
(shake finger like scolding)
Along comes the Alligator
Quiet as can be and…SNAP!
(alligators swims up and tries to bite a monkey)

Four little monkeys sitting in a tree…

A is for Ants
We sing "The Ants Go Marching"

The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching one by one,
The little one stops... to suck his thumb
And they all go marching down to the ground
To get out of the rain, BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Two by two, the little one stops to tie his shoe…

Three by three, the little one stops to climb a tree…

Four by four, the little one stops to shut the door…

Five by five, the little one stops to take a dive…

  1. Hi Mr. Keith, I live in Canada with my partner and son, and we discovered the Wake County Toddler Storytimes this year. My son absolutely loves you and gets so excited when Bobo the monkey makes an appearance. Thank you for making this videos. You are a wonderful presence in our living room. :) Your felt creations are awesome!

Big shout out to Ms Melissa, Ms Erin, and Ms Soyoung, too!
